Getting Started with Smore Newsletters
Smore makes it easy to create beautiful newsletters in just a few steps. Follow this guide to learn how!
1. Start Your Newsletter
Click the “Start a Newsletter” button at the upper right corner of the Smore website. Note: If you’re not logged in, you’ll need to sign up (it’s free) before creating newsletters.
2. Choose a Template
Smore offers six different templates to help you get started. Once you click “Start a Newsletter,” the Smore Wizard will appear with all template options. Choose the template that best fits your needs.
3. Choose a Design
Select your newsletter’s theme, font, colors, and background. Hover over the different design elements to see a live preview. For more details, check out our Design Styles Guide.
4. Add Content
You have two ways to add content:

Click one of the options under “Add Content” on the right-hand side, then choose where to place it.

Hover over a section in your newsletter and click the green “+” button.
5. Rearranging content
To move content or images, simply click and drag the section to a new location.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does each newsletter have a different URL?
Yes. Every newsletter has a unique URL that cannot be reused.
- To keep the same URL, continue editing the same newsletter.
- If you duplicate a newsletter, a new URL will be generated.
2. How do I save my changes?
Smore saves your work automatically five seconds after a change.
- For best results: Use Google Chrome as your browser.
- Edit in only one tab at a time.
- Click “Done” after each section to ensure your edits are saved.
- Once finished, press the “Publish Changes” button to update the published version.
3. Can I save my newsletter and continue editing later?
Yes! You can find all newsletters and drafts in your Newsletter Library and return to editing anytime.
4. What’s the difference between a draft and a published newsletter?
A draft is private and only visible to you until you publish it. Once you click “Publish Changes,” your newsletter becomes public, and you can share the link so others can view the latest version.
